The’modest’ attire Melania wore to the Pope’s funeral was praised by her fans, but Trump criticized her suit.

Melania and Donald Trump attended Pope Francis’ funeral at the Vatican on Saturday along with other international leaders, but the President’s attire drew harsh criticism online.

While the president has come under fire for his suit choice, Melania Trump has received online acclaim for her “modesty” during Pope Francis’ funeral.

Following their arrival in Rome last night, the First Lady and her husband, Donald Trump, joined a group of international leaders today to honor the late pope, who passed away on Easter Monday at the age of 88. Trump wore a blue suit, while Melania wore a black dress with a black veil when they arrived to the Vatican today.

Since most attendees at the funeral wore black, his choice of attire garnered criticism online. One person posted on X, “Respect? Not even a black suit is on him. At least Melania is dressing all in black, with a modest black veil, for the funeral.

“First Lady Melania wearing the traditional lace veil, in respect and flowing tradition as she and @POTUS arrive at the Funeral of Pope Francis,” said another admirer of Melania. @FLOTUS is so elegant and respectful. Another person commented, “Melania looked a Perfect First Lady.”

“I was wondering why Donald Trump wore a blue suit,” someone else said. I get it now. He is different from the others. Melania is dressed traditionally for a Catholic funeral in the meantime. As one person put it on Twitter, “Trump is a supreme embarrassment.”

Nicola Hickling, a lip reading expert, revealed to us in an exclusive interview what Melania said to her husband when they exited Air Force One on Friday night. According to Nicola, Trump answered, “Ready,” to which Melania replied, “Of course.”

Trump grinned at the people who had gathered to see him and Melania as they descended the stairs after exiting the aircraft. “It was a good flight, thank you,” he added. Nicola said the same. Subsequently, the President reportedly said, “We will see you when we meet Macron.”

The President and First Lady attended the outdoor service for the funeral, sitting in the front row next to French President Emmanuel Macron. Before the service, Trump also had a quick meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to confirmation from Zelensky’s office and the White House. Steven Cheung, the director of communications for the White House, stated that they “met privately today and had a very productive discussion” and that further information would be provided.

Trump informed reporters on Friday that he was attending the funeral “out of respect” for the pope, who vehemently disagreed with him on a number of subjects, such as immigration, how migrants are treated, and climate change. Early on in their relationship, the American president and the Argentine pope clashed over immigration.
